Mount Hagen police continue to maintain the rule of law. The police and military were up early on Thursday morning at 3am and blocked off all access points into the city, says police commander Chief Superintendent John Sagom. PPC Sagom said the business houses, communities, individuals and private companies have all responded well to the presence of police personnel. PPC reiterated that the security personnel in the province will not give any space and will not allow hooligans to take advantage of the current situation and cause turmoil. "Since the personnel took up the vantage points around the province, no one has tried to disrupt or disturb the people of the province, we have also conducted awareness to ensure those hoping to disrupt the daily lives of the people are dealt with." "The awareness by the men and women have been well received and thus we did not see any other incidents reported in the province," PPC Sagom said. "I want to thank the Western Highlands local members including Governor Wai Rapa, Hagen Central MP William Duma, Tambul-Nebilyer MP Win Daki and Mul-Baiyer Lumusa MP Jacob Maki for their never ending support to the personnel who have continued working throughout the night." "I also want to thank the Mount Hagen City Commission as well for ensuring we have the extra support," he added.
