A foreign individual living in Port Moresby took time out last week to donate K50,000 worth of food item to the Bomana Prison Camp in National Capital District. Bangladesh national, Masud Mozumder went out his own way to put smile on the faces of inmates and staff at one of the biggest CS prison camps in the country. Mr Mozumder went in with a truck load of frozen goods including lamp flap cartoons and chicken boxes, rice bags, noddle, sugar bales, water, assorted drinks, women sanitary pads, baby diapers among others. He said he was not a big business man but a normal person who feels the hardship of inmates and wanted help them celebrate a good Christmas and New Year. "I am not a big business man but a normal person. In my life I have gone through a lot of pain and struggles. I was also in prison and I understand the meaning of pain and struggles. Because of my experience I want to help people," he said. "I now make this donation to Bomana prison. Every year I will continue to donate and I wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New year," Mr Mozumder told those gathered to witness the donation. Bomana jail commander Inspector Joe Yamason said it was the first time for Bomana jail to receive a huge amount of food item from a foreign individual. "We (Bomana prison camp) have been forgotten. Business houses and other organizations have not donated anything but yet God alone works in mysterious ways and here we have food worth K50,000," Mr Yamason said. He thanked Mr Mozumder for the timely donation and said it would go a long way in the lives of the inmates and staff who had witnessed the occasion.
